Steps For Mixing of Birla White WallCare Putty

After ensuring that the walls are pre-wetted and are clean and free from dust, grease & materials. Now it is time to get the WallCare putty mixture right. Here is how you can get it right in 2 simple steps.

Step 1: Birla White WallCare Putty should be mixed slowly with 36-38% clean water to make a paste. It’s very important to note that the water is added to this cement putty to make the mix and not the other way around.

Step 2: The putty should then be mixed for at least 10-15 minutes until a homogenous paste is formed. A mechanical mixer should be used to thoroughly mix the WallCare Putty, making the paste free from lumps. 

Once the paste is prepared, do keep in mind that it must be used within 2-3 hours of mixing with water.

Now that your WallCare putty is ready for application, here are a few pointers which could make this process easier for you!

Once you have done pre-wetting the walls, Apply the first coat on the moistened wall surface from bottom to upward direction uniformly with the aid of a putty blade. This would ensure minimum wastage and a proper finish. 

  • Once the first coat has dried, rub the surface gently with a wet sponge, a putty blade, or waterproof emery paper in order to remove loose particles.
  • Second coat: Allow the surface to dry for at least three hours and then apply the second coat of Birla White WallCare Putty.
  • Don’t rub the surface done with Birla White WallCare Putty harshly with a rough emery paper as it breaks the film formed over it, which decreases its water-resistant properties.
  • The surface should be left to dry for at least 10-12 hours, preferably overnight.

Following these simple steps, your wall surface will be ready for painting and will give Birla White WallCare Putty time to set the perfect base coat for your walls.

Note: You won’t have to apply primer on the walls after applying Birla White WallCare Putty because its qualities make it strong enough to work as both a putty and a primer.

Other things which you should take note of:

  • Before applying Birla White WallCare Putty to fresh concrete or mortar surfaces, we recommend applying two coats of Birla White Cement Wash.
  • Always make the exact amount of white cement putty needed and use it within 2-3 hours of mixing it with water. This procedure will assist you in significantly reducing putty waste, which will also be financially beneficial to you.
  • The thickness of the coats of Birla White WallCare Putty should not exceed 1.5 meter.
  • It is not necessary to rub the finished surface of Putty. However, any unevenness must be removed before applying any type of paint or distemper, simply level the surface with a very fine waterproof emery paper of at least 500 to achieve a glossy white surface.
